Claudia Viek, CEO of CAMEO (California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity), discusses the increased need to create an economic development strategy that supports local, small business; while small businesses do the most to create local jobs and support the local community, benefits and tax incentives are usually disproportionately skewed toward large businesses. She cites some examples of communities that are supporting small business, with programs such as maker spaces, co-working spaces and business incubators.
